Court Affirms Ganduje's Suspension

A Kano State High Court has issued an ex parte order affirming the suspension of former governor Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Presiding over the court, Justice Usman Malam Na’abba granted the order in response to an exparte motion filed by two executive members of the APC from Ganduje's ward, Laminu Sani and Haladu Gwanjo.

The motion, sought Ganduje's suspension, alleging misconduct and violations of party regulations.

In the ruling the court ordered Ganduje to desist from all activities associated with his role as the National Chairman of the APC, effectively suspending his participation in the National Working Committee (NWC).

Justice Na’abba stressed the importance of maintaining the current state of affairs, directing all parties to adhere to the suspension pending the substantive hearing scheduled for April 30, 2024.

“An order is hereby granted directing all parties… to maintain status quo ante belum… restraining [Ganduje] from parading himself as a member of APC or presiding over any affairs of the NWC,” Justice Na’abba stated.

The suspension of Ganduje, initiated by members of his ward, stems from allegations of corruption raised against him by the Kano State Government.

Following the petition from Ja’afaru Adamu, an APC member from Ganduje’s polling unit, ward executives undertook an investigation into the accusations, resulting in the APC chairman's suspension.
